Abstract

Santa Marta is a cleaner exponent of a situation that can be understood as a urban drama between a city and its main river, within an urban context where priority is perceived in the intention of selling the city to tourism, when the initial concern should be to address the phenomena surrounding the local population, which ultimately is the one who builds the territory through the culture and social practices represented in their ways of living, an indication of this is knowing that they do not have satisfactory access to public services , to name a relevant aspect. However, the fact that it may be easy to blame district administrations for the lack of urban control, reviewing first-hand the contact of the population that occupies the banks of the Manzanares, there are also bad ways to proceed. This leads to the search for initiatives that compromise the environmental value of the river, the vocations of the territory and their social practices within a landscape study, to define coexistence strategies with the river for an intervention that generates a true link between the river and the city. In conclusion, it is pertinent to integrate this truncated relationship, where urban problems are taken to the river scene, where it is threatened with flooding, becoming the focus of new conflicts for the city.
