Corredor ecológico del Embalse de San Rafael para la configuración del paisaje ecosistémico

Abstract

The municipality of La Calera or Teusacá as the indigenous people knew it, stands out for its privileged and extensive landscape, due to it has a broad and important ecological structure like the eastern hills, the wasteland of Chingaza and water sources where the reservoir of San Rafael and the river Teusacá stand out; on the other hand, the proximity and connection with the city of Bogotá. This is why there is a significant demand from the dwelling sector, thus generating a high price of land and an accelerated expansion in environmental places, favoured by the proximity to the capital city. Considering thus environmental aspects of great relevance as the occupation, according to the above, we observe population figures drawn according to the different censuses of the DANE in recent years, where an increase in rural areas is shown above 50% compared to the town center of the municipality (DANE, 2005). This is confirmed by the rapid process of urbanization in the rural sector of the municipality; the demand has been such that it has generated clashes of environmental character derived from the development in constructive topics and affections on the flora and fauna of the sector. Parting from the environmental protection, that strategies are adopted that address a domain on this designated border zone between the municipality of La Calera and the city of Bogotá also renewing the environmental conditions and generating a development of activities mainly tourist, production and economical, that favor the accessibility for the pedestrian and the outstanding use of the bicycle without leaving the vehicle. All this as a structure of a comprehensive project based on urban and environmental strategies, which function as a whole and establishing its hierarchical point in the reservoir San Rafael functioning as a point of connection which articulates a series of activities through cultural scenarios, social and sports between the ecological sector of Bogotá and the territory of La Calera.
