Abstract
In the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Universidad La Gran Colombia there is an investigation related to the analysis of the levels of trihalomethanes (THMs) in samples of drinking water from a regional plant located in the Municipality of Cogua-Zipaquirá, in this sense, it is presented Here is a document in the report on the state of the art of this work, which describes some aspects related to the disinfection process in Colombia based mainly on the use of chlorine. Since drinking water treatment plants (PTAP) they are the main conduits that collect raw water, for the separation of particles found in it, thus allowing the microorganism to be disinfected. In the same way, the implications related to the risk associated with the use of chlorine are discussed, since some studies affirm that when mixing chlorinated water with organic matter, the formation of certain by-products occurs - such as trihalomethanes (THMs) - which according to research regarding risk, the adequate management of water resources, due to the toxicological level related to cancer.
