Abstract

The indigenous communities of the department of Guaviare, represented mainly by the Nukak, Jiw and Tukanos ethnic groups located each one of these in different reservations of the municipality of San José del Guaviare, have arduously managed the construction of a artisan center for the indigenous cultural promotion of Guaviare, since they have the great problem of the deficit of own spaces to sell their crafts, and in turn a devaluation of the manufacturing process of the same because in this way they cannot reach to the final consumer, but to intermediaries, who obtain indigenous art at prices that are too low and resell them to others that are too high, monopolizing this business sector. Therefore, an architectural project is proposed for the construction of the Craft Center for Indigenous Cultural Expression of San José del Guaviare, where the 3 indigenous ethnic groups of the municipality can promote their crafts and receive fair remuneration for each of their products. For the conformation of the architectural design, it is of vital importance to highlight that the design of spaces related to the behaviors, knowledge and indigenous cultural beliefs, will define the comfort and identity of the tribes in the artisan center; Therefore, a construction based on ancestral techniques of the indigenous culture of Guaviare, integrated with technological innovation, is proposed. Which leads to the main use of materials such as the threads of the cumare and moriche palm, wood in its natural and irregular states, and straw. In addition, the artisan center will represent a milestone for Guaviare and even for the country, since it fully expresses scenarios capable of safeguarding ancestral techniques such as crafts, and that are promoted by the communities themselves.
