The present work, in a first part, willreview the different theoretical approaches on Social Movements and their various forms of action and denomination, as well as the most important collective action movements in the world, Latin America and Colombia. At the end of the work, the way in which all the forms of collective action discussed above have caused an impact on Colombian society and on its model of social protest and how this is an outstanding debt that the State has with its citizens will be analyzed.     Abstract

    Desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX la protesta social se ha consolidado como una forma de acción colectiva que impacta y transforma las dinámicas de las sociedades modernas, convirtiéndose en agentes de cambio en diferentes Estados. Episodios como el llamado “Mayo del 68” francés o el movimiento ambientalista en la década de los 70, fueron la punta de lanza para el posterior nacimiento de movimientos que desde la sociedad cuestionan el statu quo y la forma en la cual los gobiernos estatales responden a las demandas y necesidades de sus ciudadanos. El presente trabajo, en una primera parte, hará una revisión de las diferentes aproximaciones teóricas sobre los Movimientos Sociales y sus diversas formas de acción y denominación, así como de los movimientos de acción colectiva más importantes en el mundo, América Latina y Colombia. Al final del trabajo, se analizará el modo en que todas las formas de acción colectiva abordadas con anterioridad han causado impacto en la sociedad colombiana y en su modelo de protesta social y cómo esta es una deuda pendiente que tiene el Estado con sus ciudadanos.
