Abstract

Railway corridors and stations have been witnesses of the different historical summits of nations and have allowed the construction and consolidation of the identity and culture of peoples. However, the decline of some of these systems, their underutilisation and deterioration have led to the loss of cultural and commercial values in different regions. This project aims to make the most of the railway network in the north of the department of Cundinamarca to rehabilitate passenger and freight transport by train and, at the same time, to strengthen the culture and tourism of the different towns served by the corridor, bringing together various municipalities with a high potential for cultural heritage. In this sense, the rehabilitation of the railway network, its infrastructure and rural urban areas of influence of the train corridor that served the municipality of Guachetá, which covers the stretch from El Rabanal station to La Isla station, is proposed. The project proposes the recovery of the cultural heritage of the municipality based on strategies to reactivate the traditional activities of the area and at the same time the integral rehabilitation of La Isla Station, returning it to its original use and complementing it with a Workshop School of trades, which guarantees spaces for the reappropriation of the cultural heritage by the inhabitants of the municipality and to promote spaces for regional tourism served by the railway system.
