dc.descriptionEste artículo es el resultado de una investigación sobre los usos y representaciones que las personas mayores tienen sobre la ciudad. Elobjetivo, es develar un conflicto en términos de lo que Manuel Delgado denomina la ciudad concebida y la ciudad practicada. Se advierte,como hipótesis, que nuestras ciudades han sido formadas sin un ordenamiento incluyente con las personas de mayor edad, pues pocose han preocupado por adaptar sus estructuras y servicios para que les sean accesibles de acuerdo con sus diversas condiciones sociales,necesidades y capacidades. Es innegable que esta situación afecta su calidad de vida, pues el entorno les genera inseguridad, los aíslay afecta su desenvolvimiento autónomo en la ciudad. Así mismo, se hace un llamado frente al reto que tiene la educación y, de maneraparticular, la gerontología para que lidere el conocimiento y reflexión sobre las implicaciones y desafíos en el mediano y largo plazoderivados de este proceso de envejecimiento poblacional. A partir de una revisión documental se explora el fenómeno de la llamadarevolución demográfica en el ámbito mundial, regional y nacional; se aborda una aproximación conceptual sobre la ciudad y lo urbano y,por último, a modo de conclusión, se presentan los elementos mínimos que configuran la existencia de un conflicto entre quienes planifican,diseñan y ordenan las ciudades, y quienes la habitan, usan y representan. es-ES
dc.descriptionIts article is the result of a research about on the uses and representations that old people have of the city. Its purpose is to reveal a conflict between the conceived city and practiced city, according with Manuel Delgado. It is warned, as hypothesis, that our cities have been formed without an inclusive arrangement with the elderly, as few people have worried about adapting the city´s infrastructures and services to be accessible to old people according to their different social conditions, needs and abilities . It is undeniable that this situation affects their quality of life, for the environment affects them in terms of insecurity, isolation and self development. Likewise, it is relevant to mention the challenge of education and, in particular, to allow the gerontology its to lead knowledge and reflection on the implications and challenges in the medium and long term derived from this process of population aging. Starting with a review of the phenomenon called demographic revolution in the global, regional and national levels; it is explored a conceptual approach addresses the city and the urban. Finally, the minimum elements that make up the existence of a conflict between those who plan, design and order the cities, and those who live on it, used and represent, are shown.Keywords:Education, age, city, urbanization, aging.en-US
