Malecón ecoturístico en el borde del río Magdalena en el municipio de Purificación - Tolima

Abstract

Purificación, a municipality located in the southeastern province of Tolima, is of great historical importance since it became the capital of the Republic of New Granada and is recognized for its folkloric festivities, such as the municipal reign and the end of year festivities. The municipality has a strategic location for the development of tourism, since it has a great number of natural resources such as the Magdalena River and cave art tours. In spite of the above, there is a deficit of tourists, since it lacks spaces directly focused on tourism and the few public spaces available in the urban area of the municipality have deteriorated considerably. Purificación has the lowest percentage of hotel infrastructure development in the region, reflecting the low public investment for tourism development. For this reason, a boardwalk is proposed as an ecotourism infrastructure on the edge of the Magdalena River, adapting to the needs and characteristics of the place and generating spaces where social, cultural and economic activities can be carried out, to convert the municipality into a tourist landmark of the department.
