The content was based on the revision of several references, including articles, audios, books about historical memory, Jorge Eliecer Gaitan and Gaitanism, this review was made through the method of documentary research, which allowed to investigate, analyze and interpret the information with the technique of reading cards, a method which facilitated the obtaining of complete and deep data of the subject, its content is divided into several aspects such as the life of Jorge Eliecer, his charisma, the works that throughout of his life he played, the day of his death, what is remembered of him and of course the world situation that was lived in 1948. The results show the lack of Colombian historical memory that have several generations, it is also visualized the misrepresentation of stories about Jorge Eliecer Gaitan and Gaitanismo depending on each point of view. It is concluded that the recognition of the other, the criticism, the discussion and the deep analysis of the subject is of vital importance to enrich the Colombian historical memory, not only in the classroom, but in all possible areas, for that reason, the article is open for any public wishing to delve into the subject, whether for educational purposes or for their own purposes.     Abstract

    El presente artículo tiene como objetivo incentivar la memoria histórica colombiana por medio del reconocimiento del Gaitanismo y de su símbolo Jorge Eliecer Gaitán. El contenido se basó en la revisión de varias referencias, entre ellas artículos, audios, libros en torno a la memoria histórica, a Jorge Eliecer Gaitán y al Gaitanismo, esta revisión se realizó por medio del método de investigación documental, el cual permitió indagar, analizar e interpretar la información con la técnica de fichas de lectura, método el cual facilitó la obtención de datos completos y profundos del tema, su contenido se divide en varios aspectos como la vida de Jorge Eliecer, su carisma, los trabajos que a lo largo de su vida desempeñó, el día de su muerte, lo que se recuerda de él y por supuesto la situación mundial que se vivía en 1948. Los resultados evidencian la carencia de memoria histórica colombiana que poseen varias generaciones, también se visualiza la tergiversación de los relatos en torno a Jorge Eliecer Gaitán y al Gaitanismo dependiendo de cada punto de vista. Se concluye que es de vital importancia el reconocimiento del otro, la crítica, la discusión y el análisis profundo del tema para enriquecer la memoria histórica colombiana, no solo en el aula, sino en todos los ámbitos posibles, por ello, el articulo está abierto para todo público que desee ahondar en el tema, ya sean para fines educativos o para fines propios. En otras palabras, es fundamental recuperar y enriquecer la memoria histórica colombiana en torno a Gaitán por medio de la educación colombiana debido a que es pertinente promover una perspectiva holística de este conocimiento en la educación para una efectiva construcción de saberes sin dejar de lado aspectos que erróneamente se creen poco importantes en la historia, esto con el fin de promover la construcción social colombiana la cual siempre es dinámica y permanente
