Este proyecto no solo aspira a preservar el valor patrimonial del conjunto arquitectónico, sino que también busca reactivar el transporte ferroviario y promover un desarrollo sostenible en la región. La Estación fue erigida como Monumento Nacional en 1996, ha sufrido un gradual deterioro y abandono desde el cese de sus operaciones ferroviarias en la década de 1970. A pesar de intervenciones previas, como la llevada a cabo en 2014, su actual uso cultural no ha logrado mantener una relevancia constante en la comunidad. El proyecto propuesto enfrenta esta problemática con un enfoque integral, abordando tanto la restauración física de las edificaciones como su integración armónica con el entorno urbano. Se propone, además, la adaptación de las instalaciones a las exigencias técnicas y funcionales del transporte ferroviario moderno. La restauración y revitalización de la Estación de Ferrocarril de Chiquinquirá no solo redundará en la preservación del patrimonio cultural de la región, sino que también se espera que genere impactos positivos en diversos aspectos.
