Este proyecto propone mitigar esta fragmentación a través del tejido de conexiones vivas, una estrategia que articula las dimensiones urbana, social y ambiental en una intervención urbanística integral. El objetivo es restablecer la conectividad del humedal con su entorno, fomentando la integración urbana, protegiendo su biodiversidad y reconectando a la comunidad. La intervención también busca reducir la contaminación ambiental mediante la regeneración de ecosistemas y la optimización de las dinámicas urbanas. La propuesta se estructura en tres componentes principales. En primer lugar, se plantea la restauración ecológica mediante la implementación de formas orgánicas que imiten los flujos naturales del agua, faciliten la reintroducción de especies nativas y optimicen los procesos de filtración y retención de aguas lluvias. Este enfoque mejora la recuperación de la funcionalidad hidrológica y ecológica del humedal. En segundo lugar, se incorpora un sistema de conectividad urbana que incluye senderos peatonales, ciclorrutas y puentes, diseñados para facilitar el acceso de los habitantes al humedal y al parque Cayetano Cañizares, fomentando un tránsito seguro para el medio ambiente. Finalmente, el proyecto integra áreas recreativas y educativas, como zonas de observación de aves, jardines de lluvia y espacios de integración comunitaria, los cuales promueven la sensibilización ambiental y el uso responsable del espacio público. Esta intervención urbanística integral transforma la fragmentación mediante un tejido de conexiones vivas entre lo urbano, social y ambiental.The research addresses issues of fragmentation and degradation of the La Vaca wetland, one of the most important and vulnerable aquatic ecosystems in Bogotá. Located in the town of Kennedy, this wetland has been severely affected by uncontrolled urban expansion, informal land occupation and the lack of adequate management by the community, which has resulted in the division of the wetland into two isolated fragments, affecting its ecological functions and its ability to provide essential environmental services, such as water regulation, carbon sequestration and biodiversity support. The fragmentation of the wetland has generated multiple negative impacts, both environmental and social. These include decreased biodiversity, loss of natural habitats, alteration of the hydrological cycle, and increased water pollution. In addition, the physical and functional disconnection between the fragments has led to a perception of deterioration of the environment by the community, which has contributed to the deterioration of the urban landscape and the lack of appropriation of the space by local residents. In response, this project proposes a comprehensive urban intervention that unifies the wetland fragments by creating a continuous ecological corridor, restoring its connectivity and functionality. The intervention includes the recovery of informally occupied areas and the design of spaces that integrate ecological corridors and green areas, fostering a link between residents and the wetland to promote its conservation.
