La importancia del municipio se debe a la influencia que tiene en el departamento de Boyacá, por ser un punto de conexión geográfica y económica, considerando lo anterior, con los años el municipio ha ido sufriendo la fragmentación urbana, causada por diferentes factores urbanos, que han dado como resultado la perdida en el patrimonio arquitectónico y natural, se refleja en los cerros, la infraestructura vial y el abandono y deterioro de edificios patrimoniales. Teniendo en cuenta lo anteriormente dicho se plantea un estudio de paisaje que caracterice el entorno medio ambiental, físico espacial y socio cultural, con estos lineamientos ya planteados se dispone a delimitar el espacio en unidades de paisaje que contengan similitudes paisajísticas con el fin de valorar sus recursos y generar atributos con los que se pueda proporcionar estrategias y acciones.The project is developed in the department of Boyacá, specifically in the municipality of Duitama.
