dc.descriptionEn el departamento del Quindío, Colombia el cultivo de café ha representado la base económica y social para muchas familias desde hace más de 5 décadas, aunque recientemente el agroturismo se ha incorporado como nueva alternativa de ingresos que ha permitido fortalecer la cultura cafetera, logrando ser reconocida por la Unesco, como “Patrimonio cultural y turístico de la humanidad†. El nuevo reto del sector cafetero es diseñar estrategias que mejoren su nivel de sustentabilidad y gestión ambiental, sin embargo, no existen estudios claros sobre la situación ambiental de las actividades agroturísticas en estas unidades, por lo tanto, el presente estudio exploró y recogió información sobre la gestión de la sustentabilidad ambiental de las unidades empresariales rurales cafeteras dedicadas al agroturismo en este departamento, por medio de una matriz de indicadores ambientales diseñados para promover el desarrollo sostenible del turismo en Colombia. Los resultados mostraron un buen uso del recurso agua, y al mismo tiempo se evidenciala necesidad de realizar ajustes a los indicadores respecto a diferenciar el consumo “fijo†en las temporadas turísticas baja y alta. Igualmente se pone sobre la mesa de discusión la necesidad de conocer la representación mental de los individuos frente a la relación costo/beneficio de la gestión ambiental, rescatar el humanismo dentro de las estrategias y el papel de las universidades para fortalecer el desarrollo sustentable en las regiones. es-ES
dc.descriptionIn the department of Quindio, Colombia, coffee crop has represented the economic and social basis for many families for more than five decades, although in the last periods of time, agro-tourism has been incorporated as a new alternative for income, which has strengthened coffee culture, and achieved UNESCO recognition as a Cultural and Tourist Patrimony of Humanity. The new challenge for coffee sector is to design strategies to improve sustainability, and environmental management; however, there are no clear studies on environmental situation of agro-tourist activities at these units; therefore, this study explored and collected information on environmental sustainability management of coffee rural business units dedicated to agro-tourism in this department, by means of a matrix of environmental indexes designed to promote sustainable development of tourism in Colombia. Results revealed proper use of water resource, and at the same time, it was found the need of adjusting indexes in order to differentiate “fixed†consumption during low tourism seasons, and high seasons. Likewise, the discussion surged on the need of learning mental representation of individuals in front of cost-benefit relationship of environmental management, rescue humanism within strategies, and the role of Universities in order to strengthen sustainable development in the regions.en-US
