In the case of Colombia, the methods used for the identification of cadavers have been fingerprinting and identification by DNA; second, the dental chart and therefore, the forensic dentist, an expert of vital importance in the interdisciplinary team whose common objective is to achieve full identification. Thus, the dental chart is constituted as a fundamental element to achieve the development of the object of the problem proposed in this essay; thus, the survey, the archive, the publicity and the implementation for the application of the scientific method, must be matched through the execution of technical tasks and procedures that will be briefly illustrated in the development of this work. Along with the scientific method that should be coined to this procedure, the odontolegal clinical history is based, together with the antemortem and postmortem dental charts; which should be available when the judicial authority requires them; however, the implementation of such procedures in the country is not carried out, thus generating an additional problem for the Medical Examiner and full identification.     Abstract

    El presente documento se elabora con base en supuestos fácticos, ejemplificado a través de un caso, el cual pretende dar a conocer la importancia de la odontología, dentro de las ciencias forenses en el proceso propio de identificación fehaciente de cadáveres, y que se erige como una alternativa de suma relevancia en la administración de justicia Para el caso colombiano, los métodos utilizados por excelencia para la identificación de cadáveres han sido la dactiloscopia y la identificación por ADN; pasando a un segundo lugar la carta dental y por lo tanto el odontólogo forense, perito de vital importancia en el equipo interdisciplinar cuyo objetivo común es lograr la plena identificación. Constituyéndose entonces, la carta dental como elemento fundamental para lograr el desarrollo del objeto del problema propuesto en el presente ensayo; así el levantamiento, el archivo, la publicidad y la implementación para la aplicación del método científico, deberá aparejarse a través de la ejecución de labores y procedimientos técnicos que se verán ilustrados sucintamente en el desarrollo del presente trabajo. Junto con el método científico que se debe acuñar a dicho procedimiento, se fundamenta la historia clínica odontólegal, junto con las cartas dentales antemortem y posmortem; las cuales deben estar disponibles cuando la autoridad judicial las requiera; sin embargo, la implementación de dichos procedimientos en el País no se llevan a cabo, generando entonces un problema adicional para el Médico Forense y la identificación plena.
