    Abstract

    El siguiente trabajo presentara a los lectores el origen de la minería ilegal en Colombia durante el periodo de tiempo comprendido entre los años 2000 al 2014; los principales metales y no metales que son producto de la explotación inadecuada ocasionando efectos en el medio ambiente, la sociedad y la economía. La crisis ambiental y económica que presenta Colombia se ha caracterizado principalmente por la falta de regulación de los recursos naturales, la minería ilegal se ha convertido en el insumo para la financiación de la guerra en Colombia, los grupos armados han hecho de esta actividad su fuente de ingresos para sus hechos criminales. El estado Colombiano a través de la aprobación de leyes como el Código Minero en el 2001 ha dado vía libre para que las empresas nacionales e internacionales exploten el suelo y subsuelo colombiano en búsqueda de minerales, originando así la destrucción de los ecosistemas y la violación de los derechos de los trabajadores que prestan sus servicios a estas compañías. La explotación minera en Colombia legal o ilegal genera desigualdad social, crecimiento de la miseria para las familias que tenían su sustento gracias a la actividad agrícola, desplazamientos de las comunidades de sus tierras, violencia, pérdida de cultura, masacres ocasionadas por parte de grupos armados (ELN, FARC, Bacrim y demás grupos al margen de la ley), al servicio de empresas que quieren adueñarse de las tierras ricas en oro; la destrucción de los ecosistemas, contaminación de los suelos y agua debido al uso de químicos y metales pesados como el mercurio; la actividad minera ha ocasionado la más grande amenaza para los ecosistemas acuáticos y las especies que están dentro de ellos, la presencia de la generación de tierras infértiles para la producción agrícola.
