Particularly during the first decades of the twentieth century, with the arrival of the railroad and the development processes associated to modern though and industrialization, where the transformation of the town was promoted with increasing primary industrial activities and the emergence of working-class neighborhoods. As a result, the displacement of resident communities in the sector became imminent, leaving behind homes and facilities of social, historical and architectural significance into disuse. This is the case of the San Jorge Theater, opened in 1938 as one of the great works of Art Deco of Bogotá city. It is located in this town and was affected by this phenomenon of resignification, which it has led to a progressive deterioration and his total abandonment today. However, the San Jorge Theater is declared a Good of Cultural Interest, and thus allows us to formulate a proposal for an integral conservation, whose purpose to restore its use, keep their stylistic values and adapt its architectural elements, in order to be a complementary equipment of development projects in the sector.     Abstract

    La Localidad de los Mártires, ubicada en el centro occidente de la ciudad de Bogotá, se ha visto afectada por diferentes procesos históricos que intervinieron en la configuración de su espacio urbano; en particular durante las primeras décadas del siglo XX, con la llegada del ferrocarril y los procesos de desarrollo asociados al pensamiento moderno y la industrialización, donde se promovió la transformación de la localidad con el incremento de actividades de tipo industrial primario y el surgimiento de barrios obreros. Como consecuencia, se hizo inminente el desplazamiento de las comunidades residentes del sector, dejando a su paso viviendas y equipamientos de trascendencia social, histórica y arquitectónica en desuso. Es el caso del Teatro San Jorge, inaugurado en 1938 como una de las grandes obras Art Déco de la ciudad de Bogotá, que se encuentra ubicado en dicha localidad y se vio afectado por este fenómeno de resignificación, lo cual lo ha llevado a un progresivo deterioro y a su total abandono en la actualidad. No obstante, El Teatro San Jorge se encuentra declarado como Bien de Interés Cultural, lo cual permite formular una propuesta de conservación integral, que tenga como finalidad restituir su uso, conservar sus valores estilísticos y adaptar sus elementos arquitectónicos, para que pueda ser un equipamiento complementario de los proyectos de desarrollo del sector.
