To be at the forefront of these changes, seeking economic improvements and compliance with the technical standards of each country or region, the implementation of natural coconut fiber sisal, jute and contemplated. This article presents a literature review of the fibers listed above, relating their main physical and mechanical properties, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages when using them in slope stabilization and coating. Said fibers by its ability to absorb water, surface run-off and regulating soil infiltration when high rainfall or when in areas of tropical soils, besides this are balanced in the soil temperature and serve as nutrients to activate revegetation of the slope.     Abstract

    La implementación y el desarrollo de materiales ecológicos, nuevos procesos constructivos y conciencia ambiental de las últimas décadas, han generado cambios en la planeación, ejecución y control de proyectos de ingeniería. Para estar a la vanguardia de dichos cambios, buscando mejoras económicas y el cumplimiento de las normas técnicas de cada país o región, se contempla la implementación de fibras naturales de coco, yute y sisal. Este artículo presenta una revisión literaria de las fibras nombradas anteriormente, relacionando sus principales propiedades físicas y mecánicas, analiza las ventajas y desventajas al momento de utilizarlas en la estabilización y recubrimiento de taludes. Dichas fibras por su capacidad de absorción de agua, regulan la escorrentía superficial e infiltración del suelo cuando hay precipitaciones elevadas o cuando se encuentran en zonas de suelos tropicales, además de esto mantienen un equilibrio en la temperatura del suelo y sirven de nutrientes para activar la revegetalización del talud. Finalmente se expone la importancia de estas técnicas bioingenieriles ya que, aunque el factor de seguridad de diseño en un talud no se modifique teóricamente, en la práctica si se produce un efecto estabilizante en la presión de poros de los estratos del suelo, impidiendo las fallas al cortante o el colapso
